At 73, kiteboarder Mikaya Heart lives out of her 1983 Toyota pickup in the Columbia River Gorge. As she glides across the wind-swept water, Mikaya reflects on her philosophy of yielding to nature’s forces rather than resisting them—a lesson embodied in both her minimalist lifestyle and her approach to kiteboarding. In her voice and movement, we discover a life stripped to its essentials and lived in harmony with the elements.
